Whether depicting an artist's studio or home, or perhaps the stately rooms of a country house, these compositions give a snap-shot into the private lives of others. They might include a figure in contemplative mood or a still life. Tabletops and chairs recently vacated; scenes conspicuous by the feeling of somebody having just left the room. The subject of domestic interiors lends itself as an endless source of inspiration for the painter to include still life, portraiture, windowsill landscapes and a vehicle for exploring colour, form and pattern.
This exhibition is accompanied with a new collection of ceramics by The Chelsea Potter.
